Drips, Leaks and Geysers

Drip, drip, drip! Not only can it drive you crazy (Mythbusters proved that it’s plausible to go insane from dripping water torture), but even a slow faucet leak can waste more than 3,000 gallons of water per year. And a fast dripping leak can increase your water bill by upwards of $200 per year.

While a dripping faucet is the most common household leak, there are other culprits like leakage in toilet flappers (do you hear your toilet filling even when you haven’t flushed it) or leaking valves, including your hose bibb outside (has your water bill mysteriously increased).

Drips are baby leaks that can turn into larger leaks and even into geysers if they’re left undetected. Having drips repaired as soon as you discover them will save money on your water bill and will also prevent larger, more expensive repairs and potential water damage if they become geysers.

If there is a leak coming from your water heater, it’s best to address it as soon as possible. A neglected water heater can burst causing a major flood inside your home.

Unpleasant Surprise

If you find water on the kitchen floor (and it isn’t from Fido knocking over his water dish yet again), check under the sink to see if the plumbing fixtures are leaking. If that’s not where the water’s coming from, it could be a leak in the water line inside the kitchen wall or it’s possible you could have a slab leak.

This is when things get tricky. First be sure to turn off the water main to prevent further leaking and then call us. Once we’ve located the source of the leak, we can make the necessary repair so you don’t end up with major water damage in your house.

Drips and leaks are signals that something’s wrong. Niemeyer Brothers Plumbing can make it right. Call us at 623-582-5775.

“Nate, the service manager, was absolutely fantastic. He, along with Adam, a tech who was also great, fixed a slab leak in my home with a re-route and installed a new water heater. Nate came highly recommended by a contractor in the family; he and Adam did not disappoint. We’d recommend them to anyone!”Kate S. on Yelp
